Michigan plans to consider what its employees and agencies post on social media websites as matters of public record and subject to Freedom of Information Act requests. This means that information posted by state employees on social network sites that's deemed avaible for the public can be can be requested by the public through the Freedom of Information Act.

Kwame Kilpatrick transferred to a low security prison

Kilpatrick was transferred Friday from the Oaks Correctional Facility near Manistee, where he had begun serving 18 months to five years for probation violations on June 8. James Thomas, Kilpatrick’s lawyer, said access to research facilities and a computer will better allow his client to prepare a defense against federal fraud and tax charges.

"The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that insurance companies can consider credit histories when setting auto premiums. Consumer advocates are dismayed, but banning credit scores would not have fixed the urban insurance crisis anyway. As many urban policy holders now enjoy good-credit discounts -- amounting to 5% to 45% of a premium -- as do rural and outstate residents."
